The Rivers State Police Command has debunked circulating reports of a supposed herdsmen attack in the state, confirming that the viral video fueling panic is completely fake.

In an official statement released in Port Harcourt, the Command clarified that no such incident occurred anywhere within Rivers. The police described the video as misleading content deliberately recycled to create fear and tension among residents.

According to The Punch, security operatives immediately launched an internal verification after the clip spread online, only to discover that the footage originated from an unrelated incident outside the state. Premium Times also reported that the police warned bloggers and social media users against pushing unverified information capable of triggering public unrest.

Spokesperson of the Command urged the public to remain calm and rely solely on verified updates from law-enforcement agencies, adding that security across the state remains stable and under control.

As misinformation continues to circulate across digital platforms, authorities are calling for greater digital responsibility to prevent unnecessary panic in an already tense national security climate.
