Preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections are gathering momentum as nine registered political parties have officially collected access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload the particulars of their candidates.
According to reports by The Punch, Premium Times, and the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the access codes enable political parties to submit candidates’ information through INEC’s online nomination portal ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
The development marks one of the earliest official steps in the build-up to the 2027 elections, signaling that political parties are beginning to organize and position themselves for what is expected to be another highly competitive electoral season.
INEC has repeatedly emphasized that all parties must comply with its guidelines and timelines to ensure a smooth and transparent nomination process as the countdown to the 2027 polls continues.
