Former Niger Delta militant leader, General Endurance Amagbein, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the appointment of new service chiefs, calling the move timely and necessary to tackle rising insecurity in Nigeria.
In a statement from Abuja, Amagbein, also known as Adaka Boro the Second, expressed confidence in the Tinubu administration and optimism that the new military leadership would bolster national security and restore Nigeria’s international standing.
He specifically congratulated the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Iddi Abbas. Amagbein also urged the Defence Chief to revisit investigations into the Okuama killings in Delta State, highlighting that despite soldiers being killed and mass arrests made, justice has yet to be served.
He accused some “unscrupulous surveillance contractors” of misleading authorities and wrongfully targeting innocent individuals. Stressing the importance of collaboration, Amagbein called for collective intelligence between the armed forces and credible Niger Delta stakeholders to sustain peace in the region.
