Breaking: Police Shake-Up in Nigeria — IGP Egbetokun Steps Down, Tunji Disu Takes Over

In a major development for Nigeria’s security landscape, Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has officially resigned from his position following instructions from President Bola Tinubu.

According to reports by Channels Television and The Punch, President Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as the new IGP, marking a significant leadership change at the helm of the Nigeria Police Force.

Tunji Disu, widely recognized for his innovative approaches in policing and previous successes in urban security management, is expected to lead the force with renewed strategies to tackle rising crime and improve public safety. Analysts note that this reshuffle could bring fresh energy to Nigeria’s security architecture, especially at a time when national policing challenges remain high.

Security experts say that while leadership transitions are common in the force, the appointment of Disu signals President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening policing reforms and boosting citizen confidence in law enforcement.

The official handover ceremony is expected soon, as Nigerians keenly watch how the new IGP will steer the force in the coming months.
