Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled June 27 to deliver a final judgment in the case filed by suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who is challenging her suspension from the Senate.
Akpoti-Uduaghan dragged the National Assembly, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Senate, and Senator Neda Imasuem to court, alleging that her suspension was biased and unjust.
Originally assigned to Justice Obiorah Egwuatu, the case was later reassigned to Justice Nyako. During Monday’s hearing, both sides confirmed they had submitted all required documents. However, lawyers for the Senate accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of contempt for posting a satirical apology to the Senate President on Facebook and in newspapers, allegedly violating a court order.
Her legal team denied the claim, insisting the statement had no link to her and also reminded the court of a prior motion accusing the defendants of contempt.
