Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly today engaged in a free-for-all following the impeachment of the Speaker Elvert Ayambem.
The House turned chaotic as the sitting rounded up, with members fighting over the mace, which is the symbol of authority of the speaker.
The fisticuffs ended the sitting, which saw 17 members out of 25 impeach Ayambem on allegation of misappropriation of funds, from Local Government deduction, and 11 months deductions which he allegedly failed to disclose to members.
Majority of the lawmakers had earlier passed a no-confidence vote on the Speaker, about 11 months in office.
