Delta Police Arrest Four Over Gun Linked to Slain Upcoming Artiste

The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested four suspects linked to a firearm allegedly found in the possession of an upcoming artiste, Oghenemine Ogidi, who was reportedly killed in an alleged extrajudicial incident involving a police officer in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area on April 26.

According to a statement issued on June 8 by the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, and reported by outlets such as The Punch and Channels Television, the arrests followed a detailed intelligence-led investigation into a suspected gun-running syndicate operating across multiple states.

The suspects identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike were reportedly arrested between May 4 and May 16 in Bayelsa and Imo States after coordinated surveillance operations by police operatives.

Investigators allege that Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was first apprehended in Bayelsa State, where he allegedly confessed to purchasing the firearm for N290,000 and reselling it for N380,000 through a middleman identified as “Desmond,” who remains at large. The chain of transactions reportedly led detectives to Amadi Princewill, who was later arrested in Imo State and allegedly admitted to acquiring the weapon from Amadi Felix for N200,000.

Police further stated that all four suspects are believed to be members of a Black Axe confraternity-linked network involved in illegal arms circulation.

The Commissioner of Police added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects, including the alleged intermediary known as Desmond, while the arrested individuals will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
