Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested popular Lagos socialite, Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, popularly known as E-Money, for allegedly abusing the Naira and defacing foreign currencies.
Sources revealed that E-Money was apprehended on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos. He was reportedly arrested for spraying United States dollars at public events—an act considered a violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.
An EFCC official confirmed the arrest, stating, “On Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed U.S. dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act. He was arrested at his Omole, Lagos residence. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and he will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
Another source disclosed that E-Money was being transported to Abuja for further questioning by EFCC investigators.
When contacted for an official statement, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment on the matter.
