As Muslims across Nigeria prepare for the much-anticipated Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a strong security advisory, calling on residents of Akwa Ibom State to remain alert and security-conscious.
According to reports by Channels Television and The Punch, the Commissioner of Police in the state emphasized the need for increased vigilance before, during, and after the festive period.
The police warned that while the season is one of joy and celebration, it can also attract criminal elements looking to exploit large gatherings and relaxed security attitudes. Residents were advised to report suspicious movements and avoid overcrowded or unsecured areas.
Security agencies have also assured the public of strategic deployments across major locations, including prayer grounds, markets, and recreational centers, to ensure a peaceful celebration.
With excitement building for Eid al-Fitr, authorities say cooperation from the public will be key to maintaining safety and order throughout the festivities.
