Eight Killed, Several Injured as Gunmen Attack Plateau Community

JOS — At least eight people have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries after suspected gunmen attacked a community in Plateau State.

According to reports from Channels Television, Punch Newspapers, Vanguard, and Daily Trust, the attackers invaded the community late at night, opening fire on residents and causing widespread panic.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the assailants stormed the area unexpectedly, shooting sporadically and setting parts of the community ablaze before security forces arrived. Injured victims were reportedly rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Community leaders have condemned the attack, describing it as another tragic incident in the ongoing wave of violence affecting parts of the state. They called on both state and federal authorities to intensify security operations and protect vulnerable communities.

Security agencies confirmed that investigations have begun to track down those responsible for the attack, while assuring residents that efforts are underway to prevent further violence.
