Rivers state government has been urged not to convert the newly commissioned Dr Peter Odili Cancer and Cardio Vascular centre to a money-making venture and revenue generation centre.
Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero who gave this during the Commission of the hospital today said the hospital should be used for charity instead so as to meet the health challenges of the people.
He also called on the Federal govt to establish cancer centres in each of the geopolitical zones So as to provide critical healthcare for the less privileged.
Speaking governor Wike said his administration will never abandon any project it has stated. He said he has no apologies for naming the hospital after Dr Peter Odili
He also advised those in positions of authority to ensure they attract projects back home before they leave office.
Correspondent Allwell Ene reports that the 2 beds. cancer and the cardiovascular centre has a Pathology and cardiology department and was completed in 14 months.
