The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced plans to increase tariffs for all airport service providers and phase out cash transactions at its facilities. The move aims to boost revenue generation and modernize operations, shifting to fully automated, contactless payment systems.
FAAN revealed that 92% of its income comes from aeronautical sources, compared to over 40% non-aeronautical revenue in developed countries. Director of Commercial and Business Development, Adebola Agunbiade, assured stakeholders of early notification before tariff hikes and highlighted plans to restructure lease agreements.
Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku emphasized investments in automation, infrastructure upgrades, and cashless systems to enhance transparency and accountability. She also warned of licence revocation for operators involved in touting and pledged to clear tankers obstructing Lagos airport access roads.
