The Federal Government has reiterated its determination to eliminate malaria, recognizing it as a pressing public health challenge.
Dr. Iziaq Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, emphasized the government’s commitment in a statement on Sunday, pledging to bolster strategies aimed at achieving a malaria-free nation.
Speaking while receiving a delegation from the Malaria Consortium, led by Dr. Nnenna Ogbulafor, National Coordinator of the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), Dr. Salako outlined key government initiatives targeting malaria eradication.
He highlighted the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) as a critical component of the government’s strategy and praised the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) as instrumental in strengthening primary healthcare systems, including malaria management.
“The Federal Government remains steadfast in its efforts to eliminate malaria, and we will continue to invest in innovative strategies and partnerships that accelerate progress toward this goal,” the Minister stated.
The government’s renewed focus on malaria elimination underscores its commitment to improving public health outcomes and achieving a malaria-free future for Nigeria.
