The Federal Government says it is committed to giving Nigerian workers a national living wage.
Speaking at the 2024 Workers Day Celebration at the Eagle Square, Abuja, President Bola Tinubu represented by his Vice, KashimShettima, said the government is open to receive the recommendations of the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage, while hailing the Nigerian workers for their commitment to the peace, progress, and development of the nation.
Our correspondent, RaliatAdenekan reports that the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero in his speech earlier, rejected the Federal government’s 25% and 35% increase in salary for civil servants, but demanded for an increase of workers’ salaries to the tune of N615,000, to help workers to meet up with the current harsh economic realities.
