The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to identifying civil servants who continue to receive salaries after relocating abroad. Speaking during an event in Abuja marking her 100 days in office, Walson-Jack denied claims that the investigation had been abandoned and highlighted ongoing efforts to address the issue.
The probe, launched after President Bola Tinubu’s directive in May, aims to ensure that civil servants living abroad refund salaries received and hold enabling supervisors accountable. Walson-Jack noted progress in using the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to monitor employees and verify their status.
“Some have returned, while others retired honorably. This process will continue to ensure that salaries are not paid to those living outside the country,” she stated.
During her speech, Walson-Jack praised her team for their support and outlined her office’s goals, including tackling job racketeering in collaboration with the Federal Civil Service Commission. She assured that fraudulent employment practices would be met with strict sanctions.
Her remarks underscore the government’s resolve to strengthen accountability and transparency in public service operations.
