Tony Book, former Manchester City captain and manager, has passed away at 90, the club announced Tuesday.
Book, a right-back, led City to four major trophies, including the English top-flight title and European Cup Winners’ Cup, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. As manager, he guided the team to a League Cup win in 1976.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak praised Book’s contributions over six decades, describing him as a player, captain, and manager who embodied humility and dedication. Book also served as the club’s honorary president and life president of the official supporters club.
