FRSC Cracks Down on Traffic Offenders in Kebbi, Arrests 39 Vehicles for Overloading, Route Violations

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intensified its enforcement operations in Kebbi State, arresting 39 vehicles for various traffic offences, including overloading, route violations, and other breaches of road safety regulations.

The operation, carried out by officials of the Kebbi State Sector Command, forms part of the corps’ ongoing efforts to reduce road crashes and ensure strict compliance with traffic laws, particularly along major highways in the state.

According to the FRSC, the affected vehicles were found violating several safety regulations, with overloading and unauthorized route operations identified as some of the major offences. The corps warned commercial drivers against flouting traffic rules, stressing that such practices continue to endanger the lives of passengers and other road users.

The command also urged motorists to obey road signs, avoid excessive loading, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey, adding that enforcement operations would be sustained across the state.

The development comes amid the FRSC’s nationwide campaign to improve road safety and reduce the rate of avoidable accidents. The Punch and Daily Trust have previously reported that the agency has stepped up enforcement against traffic offenders across several states, with a particular focus on commercial transport operators, overloading, speeding, and dangerous driving.

Similarly, Channels Television has reported that the FRSC has repeatedly warned motorists that violations such as overloading and route abuse remain major contributors to fatal road crashes in Nigeria, urging transport unions and vehicle owners to support efforts aimed at promoting safer roads.

The latest enforcement action in Kebbi underscores the FRSC’s commitment to strengthening compliance with road safety regulations as authorities continue to caution drivers against practices capable of putting lives at risk.
