Groups in the Niger Delta region have vowed to resist attempts by the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission to channel the budget of the Commission to service few politicians to the detriment of the vast interest of the poor majority.
They have also called on the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs Obong Okon Umana and the acting managing director of the NDDC Abubarkar Audu to commence release of Agricultural grants to farmers that have been affected by floods in the region so as to boost food production and cushion the harsh effect the post flood era would have on the region.
National President of the Movement for the survival of the Izon ethnic nationality in the Niger Delta Kennedy West in an interview with journalists yesterday cautioned that any award of jobs that have no direct bearing with the sufferings of the people of the region would be fiercely resisted.
