The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has strongly refuted claims linking him to an alleged attack on President Bola Tinubu, calling the report by the online medium Daily Excessive “senseless” and “mischievous.” Through his Director of Media, Ohiare Michael, Bello described the publication as a desperate plot by irresponsible politicians aimed at straining the relationship between Tinubu and the former governor.
The statement, issued on Monday, clarified that the report attributed fake quotes to Bello, suggesting he would reveal how Tinubu became President. Michael emphasized that such claims are misleading and illogical, especially since court records are public documents and no trial has yet commenced for Bello. He pointed out that the court process is open and accessible to journalists and stakeholders, undermining the credibility of the report.
Bello further asserted his support for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, labeling the publication as a confirmation of the lack of intelligence among some of his detractors. He condemned the publication as part of a “bring-him-down-at-all-costs” agenda. The statement urged social media users to disregard the report and called on those responsible to verify information before circulating it. Bello also warned that legal action would be taken against the publication for spreading false information.
