In a surprising political twist, kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to seek re-election in 2027 and vowing total support for his administration.
The group, drawn from Jonathan’s home region, described Tinubu’s leadership as “progressive and stabilising,” insisting that national unity and continuity demand that the president be given the opportunity to complete and consolidate his reforms. They declared that their backing cuts across party lines, stressing that Nigeria’s interest must come before political affiliations.
According to the kinsmen, Tinubu’s policies and approach to governance have convinced them that he deserves another term, adding that they are ready to mobilise massive grassroots support ahead of the next general election.
The endorsement has sparked fresh conversations in political circles, with analysts saying the move could reshape alliances and redraw the political map as 2027 draws closer.
