The lifeless body of Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has been discovered near the Second Niger Bridge by security operatives.

Azuka was kidnapped at gunpoint on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Onitsha while heading home for Christmas. His decomposing remains were found on Thursday during a routine patrol by a joint security team, according to Anambra Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga.

Azuka, a Labour Party chieftain, reclaimed his seat after a court overturned the victory of Douglas Egbuna of the PDP in the 2023 election. Security forces have taken over the crime scene, and an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
