Attempts by hoodlums to steal sensitive electronic devices controlling the street lights along the newly commissioned Ikoku flyover were at the weekend foiled by the Diobu Vigilante group.
It was gathered that the hoodlums had taken advantage of the darkness due to the absence of street lights at the flyover to perpetrate crime including vandalising and attempting to steal the devices when they were chased leaving them with no option but to drop the devices and scamper for their lives.
Chairman of Diobu vigilante group Amatari Bipeledei who disclosed this to journalists lamented that the absence of the street lights for over a week has renewed criminal activities in the area and pleaded with the government to restore it so as to wade off criminals from the area while calling on the Government to equip the local security outfit in crime fighting.
