The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has called for more concerted efforts to ensure the implementation and compliance of trafficking regulations, to enable the issuance of clearance certificates for various purposes, including educational excursions and recruitment activities.
Its Director general Fatima Waziri Azi, represented by Director of Research and Programme Development, Josiah Emerole, who made the disclosure at the country project closing of Expertise France yesterday in Abuja, noted that the establishment of a 24-hour Call Center, toll-free line, and short code, supported by the project, significantly enhanced NAPTIP’s responsiveness to reports of trafficking incidents.
According to her, in 2023 alone, the Call Center received over 7,000 calls, demonstrating its vital role in combating human trafficking.
