The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has officially banned the airing of the new song ‘Tell Your Papa’ by veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem on radio and television stations across Nigeria.
In a memo dated April 9, 2025, signed by Susan Obi, Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, the NBC declared the song “Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB)” under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, citing its “objectionable nature.”

The commission stated that while the track is trending on social media, its lyrical content violates broadcast standards by being inappropriate and offensive. Stations have been urged to exercise discretion and uphold responsible broadcasting by refraining from airing the song.
The controversial track directly calls out Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, criticizing his father’s leadership and highlighting the harsh realities faced by Nigerians. The diss comes in response to Seyi Tinubu’s recent remarks describing his father as “the greatest president in Nigeria’s history.”

In the lyrics, Abdulkareem accuses the government of failed promises and worsening insecurity, urging Seyi to “tell your papa country hard” and to experience everyday struggles without privilege.
The ban has sparked debate online, with many discussing freedom of expression versus broadcast decency standards.
