Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea agree $2.5 Billion Gas Pipeline Deal

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo has described the agreement for the construction of a 200km gas pipeline across the Gulf of Guinea, worth $2.5 billion signed between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea as a landmark project that would significantly boost Nigeria's gas exports and create substantial economic benefits for both nations.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo has described the agreement for the construction of a 200km gas pipeline across the Gulf of Guinea, worth $2.5 billion signed between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea as a landmark project that would significantly boost Nigeria’s gas exports and create substantial economic benefits for both nations.

The Minister who made the disclosure while speaking with journalist in Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, said the project would increase Nigeria’s upstream gas production, generate significant economic gains, and create numerous job opportunities within the gas value chain.

Equally the Minister of Defense, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, said Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea are in talks to strengthen security collaboration along their shared borders and in the Gulf of Guinea, as well as establish a joint committee to conduct patrols and enhance policing in the region.
