The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet forecasted morning thunderstorms and rain in northern states like Taraba, Kaduna, Sokoto, and Kano, with similar weather conditions expected to continue into the afternoon and evening hours.
The North-Central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, and Nasarawa, is also expected to experience thunderstorms and rain during both morning and evening hours over the three-day period.
Southern states such as Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Abia, Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom are predicted to witness morning and afternoon showers throughout the forecast period.
NiMet warned that strong winds may precede the rains, urging the public to secure loose objects, avoid driving under heavy rainfall, and stay indoors during thunderstorms. It also advised airline operators to consult NiMet for flight-specific weather updates and encouraged the public to stay informed via the agency’s official website.
