No Truth to It”: Military Fires Back at Claims of Poor Feeding in North-East Operations

Nigeria’s military has strongly dismissed circulating claims that troops deployed in the North-East are suffering from poor feeding, describing the reports as “false and misleading.”

In statements cited by Channels Television and Premium Times, military authorities insisted that soldiers on the frontlines are adequately catered for, with structured supply systems in place to ensure consistent rations and welfare support.

The denial comes amid growing online discussions and viral posts alleging that personnel fighting insurgency in the region are being underfed and neglected. Military officials, however, say such narratives are not only inaccurate but could also undermine morale and ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

According to the defense authorities, feeding arrangements for troops are regularly monitored, and any logistical gaps are addressed promptly. They also urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports, especially on sensitive national security matters.

Security analysts note that while concerns about troop welfare are valid in prolonged operations, misinformation can quickly escalate tensions and erode trust in military institutions.

As the fight against insurgency continues in the North-East, the military maintains that its personnel remain well-supported and focused on the mission at hand.
