Oshiomhole Fires Back at Peter Obi Over $150m Savings Claim: “Where Did You Get Dollars to Save?”

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has challenged former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi to explain how he accumulated over $150 million in savings during his time in office, questioning how the funds were obtained when states received federal allocations in naira.

According to other news outfit , Oshiomhole raised the questions during an interview with Symfoni TV, arguing that the Federal Government had rejected proposals by governors to receive their allocations in dollars.

“Where did you get dollars to save? Did you receive naira from Abuja and go to bid for dollars to save for Anambra State?” the former Edo governor queried.

Oshiomhole also disputed Obi’s claim that he did not borrow money while governing Anambra, arguing that World Bank facilities could still count as loans even when repayment was deferred.

Obi, who governed Anambra from 2006 to 2014, has maintained that he left over $150 million in investments and savings for the state. He has also challenged authorities to verify his claims using his handover documents and bank records.

The exchange has reignited the debate over Obi’s financial record, the alleged debts inherited by successive administrations, and how public funds were managed during his tenure.
