Nigerian pensioners have urged the Federal Government to pay their outstanding entitlements, appealing for urgent action to ease the financial difficulties faced by retired workers.
The retirees are calling on the government to fulfil its obligations by clearing unpaid benefits and ensuring pensioners receive the money they are owed after years of service to the country.
According to a report by The PUNCH, the Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN) is asking the Federal Government to settle verified outstanding pension claims, including three months of the ₦25,000 monthly subsidy-removal palliative for eligible beneficiaries.

The association also wants the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to clarify the implementation of pension harmonisation, which took effect in January 2026, and address concerns about the planned relaunch of the I Am Alive verification platform.
FEPPPAN warned that delays and difficulties with pension verification could worsen the hardship faced by elderly and vulnerable retirees. It urged the government to provide practical support to pensioners who may struggle with the process because of age, illness or disability.
The association further called for improved communication between pension authorities and retirees, stressing that workers who have served the country deserve timely payment of their entitlements and access to essential healthcare.
The report was also published by Vanguard, which detailed the association’s demands for better pension administration and the settlement of outstanding obligations.
