The Lagos APC has condemned former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for calling internet fraudsters (“Yahoo boys”) “geniuses” who need redirection.
In a statement, APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo described Obi’s comment as “reckless, disappointing, and morally reprehensible,” arguing it trivializes cybercrime and misleads Nigerian youths. Oladejo accused Obi of seeking political attention through such statements and urged him to avoid remarks that could weaken moral discipline.
The APC reaffirmed its support for legitimate youth empowerment programs under President Tinubu’s administration, including the 3MTT, NELFUND, and digital innovation initiatives, emphasizing that leadership should prioritize integrity and responsibility over populist rhetoric.
