Police Don Open Case Against Borno Commissioner, Kuje Chairman Over 2027 Comments

2027 election never even reach, but political matter don already dey give Police headache.

The Nigeria Police Force don begin investigation into controversial comments allegedly made by Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Sainna Buba, and Kuje Area Council Chairman, Danjuma Shekwolo, over political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to reports by PUNCH and Daily Trust, Police say dem dey look into comments wey dem consider potentially inflammatory, especially because dem concern election and political support.

The Borno commissioner recently came under fire after a video circulated online where he allegedly threatened to flog people wey refuse to support the APC for 2027.

The Kuje chairman also attracted criticism after reportedly telling residents who no wan support APC to leave the area — a statement wey later generated serious backlash.

Police spokesperson, Ani Iniedu, said inciting members of the public, especially during election-related discussions, na criminal offence.

The Police also dey investigate Senator Francis Fadahunsi over another alleged political threat, while revealing say 154 people arrested during the Osun governorship election are still under investigation.

With 2027 still ahead, the message from the Police appears clear: political campaign fit start early, but threatening or inciting people no be part of the package.
