Pro-Fubara Protest Erupts in Rivers State Over Governor’s Suspension

Hundreds of supporters of suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara staged a protest on Tuesday, demanding his reinstatement.

Dressed in black and carrying placards with messages like ā€œTogether we stand for Governor Sim Fubaraā€ and ā€œWe want back our Governor, we all voted for,ā€ the demonstrators marched from Aggrey Road in Old Port Harcourt Township.

This marks the latest in a wave of protests that have gripped the state since March 18, when President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency and suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the state’s House of Assembly.
