The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara that only sincere efforts toward reconciliation with lawmakers can save him from impeachment.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Tony Okocha, said Fubara has not initiated any steps to mend ties with the elected Assembly members, despite the ongoing political crisis.
Following the March 18 declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu, both Fubara and the State Assembly were suspended, with Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd) appointed as sole administrator for six months.
Okocha raised concerns amid speculation that President Tinubu may reinstate Fubara on the June 12 Democracy Day anniversary. He emphasized that without a genuine reconciliation process, the impeachment move remains valid based on the Supreme Court ruling.
