The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has officially revealed its 17 nominees for the 2026 induction class, casting a wide and genre-spanning net that includes global pop icons, hip-hop pioneers, R&B legends and alternative trailblazers.
Among the headline-grabbing nominees are Shakira, Mariah Carey, Sade, Luther Vandross, Lauryn Hill, and the legendary hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan.
According to reports by Rolling Stone and the Associated Press, this year’s list reflects the Hall’s continued embrace of diverse sounds — from rap and metal to Britpop, blues rock, R&B and mainstream pop.
To qualify for nomination, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to eligibility. The final inductees will be selected by more than 1,200 voting members, including artists, historians and music industry professionals. The official 2026 induction class will be announced in April.
In addition to the main performer category, the Hall will also honor inductees under three special committee awards: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.
The announcement follows last year’s high-profile inductions, which included Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, Salt-N-Pepa, and The White Stripes, among others — a class widely praised for its cross-genre representation.
anticipation builds, music fans worldwide now await April’s final announcement to see which of this year’s heavyweights will officially join rock history’s most prestigious hall.
