U.S Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, has resigned, a day after she acknowledged that the agency failed in its mission to prevent the assassination attempt against former president, Donald Trump.

In a copy of the letter Cheatle sent to colleagues, Cheatle who described her decision to quit as “difficult” and thanked her colleagues, explained that she is taking responsibility for the service falling short, as she would always put the needs of the service first.
