Early Wednesday, former Republican President Donald Trump appeared close to securing a new term in the White House, needing only a few more electoral votes to defeat Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to projections by major US media outlets, Trump has won in more than half of the 50 states, including three crucial battlegrounds: Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Notably, two of these states had voted Democratic in the previous election. This puts Trump at 266 electoral votes, just four short of the 270 required to clinch the presidency. Fox News has already called the race in Trump’s favor.
Vice President Harris currently holds 195 electoral votes, winning significant states like California and New York, as well as Washington, D.C.
Here is a breakdown of states won by each candidate and their respective electoral votes, as reported by media outlets including CNN, Fox News, MSNBC/NBC News, ABC, and CBS.
