Bandits have abducted the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), in an attack on Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, in the early hours of Thursday.

The assailants also killed one person and kidnapped at least nine others, ransacking several homes and stealing valuables. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen stormed the community at 12:30 a.m., firing sporadically to instill fear among residents.

Attempts to confirm the incident with the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, were unsuccessful, as he responded via SMS that he “can’t talk now.”
