Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Rivers State Chapter, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana has frowned at the high level intimidation and lack of respect for the journalists 

Serekara in an interview on the sidelines of the world press freedom day said she said that the restriction to press feedom is negatively affecting the role of the Press in Nigeria.

Serekara-Nwikhana also said that members of the press have the role of presenting unbiased news report of government activities and opinion of the masses and further called on Government and its agencies to partner with the Press to promote freedom of expression.

The theme of this year’s UN Day for Press Freedom is Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a driver for all other Human Rights.
