The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a notice accusing Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of alleged misconduct.
Twenty-six lawmakers signed the notice, citing violations of Section 188 of the Nigerian Constitution. The allegations against Fubara include unconstitutional spending, obstructing legislative activities, and appointing officials without proper confirmation. The Assembly also accused him of withholding funds and salaries meant for the legislature and its Clerk, Emeka Amadi.
Deputy Governor Odu was also accused of supporting the alleged illegal appointments.
Speaker Martin Amaewhule forwarded the notice to the governor and urged him to respond within 14 days, as required by law. The Assembly will then decide whether to proceed with an investigation.
