Rivers United suffered their first defeat of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation’s Cup group stage, despite Alex Oyowah giving the team some ray of hope late on in a fervent atmosphere at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
Oyowah finished clinically into the corner to half the host two goal lead after they had scored in either side of the interval through John Antwi and Abdul Aziz Issah. Rivers came close to level matters after the restart in stoppage time but Dreams FC battled to take the points.
This loss relegates them to second position on the Group C log with 3 points same as Dreams FC but with a superior goal difference. Club Africains currently lead with six points.
Rivers United will return to Uyo on Sunday December 10, when they take on group leaders Club Africains at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium.
