South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, says his country sees Russia as a valued ally, as the BRICS summit gets underway in the Russian city of Kazan.
At a bilateral meeting with Russia’s Vladimir Putin yesterday, Ramaphosa described Russia as a valued friend who supported South Africa from the days of struggle against apartheid.
The South African leader expressed optimism about important discussions being held in Kazan within the BRICS family.
This year’s BRICS summit, which holds from October 22 to 24, will be attended by five founding countries namely; Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, as well as 16 other nations.
