FG releases plans for additional federal highways

Minister of works, David Umahi has said that the Lagos/Calabar Coastal Highway is expected to circle the entire Nigeria in an additional road design proposal to be tendered before the Federal Executive Council.

The minister made this known in Eleko Lagos, at the end of inspection of Section one of phase one of the coastal highway project adding that the federal government is not looking to increase the budget allocated for the project execution, despite making several adjustments.

According to the minister, the President has given him the go-ahead to design the one thousand kilometre Sokoto/Badagry highway to be a spur of the ongoing coastal road, while another spur, is the Enugu/Abakaliki/Ogoja going to Cameroon which is about three hundred and sixty one kilometres.
