Flood Alert: FG Warns of Possible Devastation Across 33 States Including Bayelsa, Delta, Adamawa, Kebbi

Nigeria is once again on high alert as the Federal Government has warned that widespread flooding may affect as many as 33 states, including Bayelsa, Delta, Adamawa, and Kebbi.

In a report consistent with earlier environmental risk warnings by outlets such as BBC News and Reuters, authorities say the looming floods are linked to rising rainfall patterns, poor drainage systems, and overflowing rivers across the country.

The Federal Government cautioned that several communities remain highly vulnerable, especially low-lying areas in the Niger Delta and parts of the North-East. Emergency agencies are reportedly on standby as disaster response plans are being activated.

Officials are urging residents in at-risk states to relocate from flood-prone zones and take precautionary measures, as similar seasonal flood events in previous years have led to loss of lives, displacement, and destruction of property.

As the rainy season intensifies, concerns are growing that Nigeria could face one of its most challenging flood periods in recent years if urgent preventive actions are not taken.
