Armed gunmen have reportedly invaded a secondary school in Kogi State, abducting the school principal, a National Examinations Council (NECO) official, several students, and other staff members in a fresh wave of insecurity that has sparked widespread concern.

According to Daily Trust, the attackers stormed the school in the early hours, firing sporadically before whisking away their victims to an unknown destination. The incident has left parents and residents in panic, with many calling for urgent government intervention.

The Punch and Channels Television also reported that security operatives have launched a search-and-rescue operation, while local authorities are working to determine the exact number of those kidnapped.

The latest attack adds to a growing list of school abductions across parts of northern and central Nigeria, despite repeated assurances by the government to improve security around educational institutions.

As of the time of filing this report, no group had claimed responsibility for the attack, while police authorities said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators.
