A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Federal Government’s request for witnesses in the terrorism trial of Nnamdi Kanu to testify behind a screen. Justice James Omotosho approved the application on Tuesday, citing security concerns over the sensitive nature of the charges. The request, made by government counsel Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), also seeks to shield the identities of the witnesses from public disclosure. Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is facing a seven-count terrorism charge. His lawyer, Kanu Agabi (SAN), did not oppose the request but asked for cooperation when Kanu’s bail application is heard. Following the ruling, the prosecution called its first witness, identified as PWAAA, who began giving testimony.
