The Landmark Group, in collaboration with the Rivers State Government, has secured a waterfront site to transform the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach into a world-class leisure, hospitality, and tourism hub.
The redevelopment project, named the “Landmark Port Harcourt Leisure Resort,” aims to provide international-standard facilities catering to families, fun-seekers, and tourists while boosting Rivers State’s socioeconomic growth through job creation, SME support, and increased internally generated revenue (IGR).
CEO of Landmark Group, Paul Onwuanibe, highlighted the project’s significance, stating, “This isn’t just about transforming a once iconic resort; it’s about building a legacy and driving socioeconomic growth in Rivers State.”
Rivers State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Israel Lebura Ngbuelo, emphasized the state’s commitment to positioning Rivers as a leading African tourism destination, noting the project’s economic and social benefits.
Redevelopment is set to begin in early 2025, with the first phase expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of the year. The Port Harcourt resort will be the first of eight prime tourism destinations Landmark plans to roll out across West Africa, promoting intra-African tourism and showcasing the region’s potential.
