It was indeed tragic as over 20 persons including Adults and children from Andoni drowned following a boat mishap involving two Andoni/Bonny-bound boats which occurred within the Andoni waterways. 

Chairman Obolo Youths Coalition in Bonny Gogo Glad Obolo told correspondent  Allwell Ene that the 20 Andoni natives  were returning from Ngo Town in Andoni to Bonny Island yesterday when the unfortunate incident happened 

Gogo who said so far no life has been recovered urged the chairmen of Andoni LGA Erastus Awortu and his Bonny Counterpart Anengi Barasua to double up efforts in recovering the bodies including supporting the families of the victims 

Meanwhile the Andoni Local Government Chairman Erastus Awortu in a statement said the council is closely monitoring the situation to offer further support especially to give the survivals necessary medical attention and recover the remains of the dead from the Sea.

Awortu consoled with the Families and Communities of victims adding that the council will do whatever it can to reduce the burden of grief of the bereaved Families and Communities and called on operators of water transportation in Andoni to ensure strict compliance of all passengers to safety rules.
