Plateau Police Crack Down on Illegal Sirens, Covered Number Plates

The Plateau State Police Command has announced a ban on the unauthorized use of sirens and vehicles operating with covered or concealed number plates across the state, as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities.

According to the police, the directive is aimed at preventing individuals from impersonating security agencies and evading identification while using public roads. Residents and motorists have been warned to comply with the order or face legal consequences.

The development comes amid growing security concerns in parts of the state, with law enforcement agencies intensifying measures to enhance public safety. Similar crackdowns on illegal sirens and obscured number plates have been reported by several Nigerian media outlets, including The Punch and Daily Trust, as authorities across the country move to tighten traffic and security regulations.

The Police Command urged members of the public to report suspicious vehicles and cooperate with security agencies in maintaining law and order.
