Residents Ignore Explosion Threat, Scoop Fuel From Fallen Tanker in Edo

News

Despite the threat of explosion, some residents of Edo state disregarded safety warnings and began scooping fuel from a tanker that had fallen along the Benin-Agbor Road.

The incident took place at Okhuaihe Hill near the Divisional Police office on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, when the tanker, carrying 33,000 litres of PMS, toppled while attempting to ascend the hills.

Despite police warnings, people rushed to the scene to collect the petroleum product.

SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, has cautioned residents to steer clear of the area.
