Senators have passed a vote of confidence on the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; a day after he debunked social media reports that some of his colleagues had plans to impeach him.

Raising a point of order at plenary, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, drew the attention of his colleagues to a publication which claimed that northern senators were behind the impeachment plot against Akpabio, as he disassociated himself and others from the fake news in circulation.

In his remarks, Senator Akpabio expressed gratitude for the support from his colleagues and assured them of his intention to provide good leadership.
